The ultrasound diagnosis and treatment business of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital began at the beginning of the hospital's opening in 1999. It became an independent department in August 2001 and achieved centralized management of the entire hospital's ultrasound diagnosis and treatment business in 2006. The department heads were Jin Songjie, Lu Shukun, Chen Yun, and Liu Li. It has now developed into a large-scale comprehensive modern medical imaging discipline that integrates medical treatment, teaching and training, scientific research, and transformation.
The department is currently the only key specialty of ultrasound medicine at the municipal level in Shenzhen. It has been the supporting unit for two consecutive sessions of the Shenzhen Municipal Government's "Three Project" in medical and health care, and is a top-level discipline (Class B) construction department in Guangdong Province's high-level hospitals; The department is responsible for the construction and operation of the Shenzhen Medical Imaging Clinical Application Public Service Platform, the Shenzhen Virtual Reality Clinical Application Public Service Platform, and the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Drug Dependence and Safe Use.
The ultrasound imaging department has a well-established talent pool, with a current workforce of 125 medical staff: 70 physicians, 3 nurses, 1 postdoctoral fellow, 18 trained physicians, and 33 medical assistants; Among them, 10 have a doctoral degree and 35 have a master's degree. Professor Chen Yun, the leader of the discipline, was included in the top 100 international academic papers on ultrasound as the only ultrasound medical expert in Shenzhen in 2021. Professors Liu Li, Zhang Tilong, and Sun Desheng also have profound academic achievements in the fields of cardiovascular, prenatal ultrasound, and ultrasound intervention, respectively.
The department currently has a business space of nearly 4000 square meters, with 74 regular consultation rooms, 3 interventional operating rooms, and an independent ultrasound interventional ward. The general practice is equipped with 110 advanced color ultrasound diagnostic instruments at home and abroad, as well as intravascular ultrasound diagnostic instruments, radiofrequency ablation machines, microwave ablation machines, etc. At the same time, it actively participates in and promotes the medical research and development of state-owned brand ultrasound diagnosis and treatment equipment and software.
Innovative one-stop appointment system for ultrasound in the department, with refined management of 18 sub professional positions in the entire department. It can carry out advanced technology projects including ultrasound-guided tumor microwave/radiofrequency ablation, virtual navigation image fusion intervention, contrast-enhanced ultrasound examination, transthoracic/ transesophageal 3D echocardiography, NT phase prenatal ultrasound diagnosis technology, fetal echocardiography, etc; By applying multidisciplinary collaboration models such as conventional ultrasound, specialized ultrasound, and clinical collaboration, we provide a comprehensive range of ultrasound imaging diagnosis and treatment technologies for all clinical departments in the hospital, with a maximum daily diagnosis and treatment volume of 4908 items.
The Ultrasound Imaging Department will adhere to the development concept of "pursuing excellence and serving society" of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, establish a patient-centered approach with improving clinical service capabilities as the core, high-quality talent cultivation and high-level scientific research and transformation as the guidance, and take the "Shenzhen Ultrasound Medicine Key Discipline" platform and the second round of construction of the "Three Famous Projects" in Shenzhen's medical and health care as the new starting point, making unremitting efforts to build a first-class ultrasound medicine discipline in South China.
